Weight loss is not a single treatment. It is a set of pathways — surgical, procedural and medical — chosen according to your weight, your medical history, your metabolic health and your goals. This page is a starting point for finding the right one.
The available pathways
Bariatric Surgery
Operations that treat obesity and related conditions by changing the size of the stomach and, in some procedures, the route food takes. Suited to people for whom a durable surgical solution is clinically appropriate.
Robotic Bariatric Surgery
The same bariatric operations performed using a robotic surgical platform, offering magnified three-dimensional vision and greater instrument articulation.
Allurion Balloon
A swallowable gastric balloon placed without surgery or endoscopy, supporting a structured programme of dietary change.
Medical Weight Loss
Clinically supervised non-surgical treatment, combining assessment, nutrition, activity and — where appropriate — prescribed medication.
How the right pathway is chosen
Assessment considers your weight history, obesity-related conditions such as type 2 diabetes or sleep apnoea, what has already been tried, your general health and fitness for a procedure, and your readiness for the long-term follow-up that any weight-loss treatment requires. Sometimes the honest conclusion is that a procedure is not appropriate, and that is a legitimate outcome.
You can use the BMI calculator for a general screening figure first. BMI is a screening tool, not a diagnosis.
